Iblees

Iblees holds a pivotal and cautionary role in Islamic belief, representing the ultimate act of rebellion against divine command. Originating as a jinn who worshipped alongside the angels, his story unfolds at the dawn of creation. When Allah commanded all to [prostrate before Adam] as a sign of respect for humanity's unique creation, Iblees adamantly refused. His rejection stemmed from overwhelming pride, arrogantly declaring, [“I am better than him. You created me from fire and created him from clay”]. This act of defiance, born of self-aggrandizement, sealed his fate. Allah cast him out, commanding him to [“Descend from Paradise, for it is not for you to be arrogant therein”], and he became known as Shaytan, the Satan. Before his expulsion, Iblees famously requested and was granted reprieve [until the Day they are resurrected], vowing to tempt and mislead humanity throughout their earthly journey. His narrative profoundly teaches Muslims about the perils of arrogance and the constant spiritual battle against whispers of disobedience, underscoring the importance of humility and submission to God's will.

Quran 45 verses

Wa iz qulnaa lilmalaaa'i katis judoo liAadama fasajadooo illaaa Ibleesa abaa wastakbara wa kaana minal kaafireen

And [mention] when We said to the angels, "Prostrate before Adam"; so they prostrated, except for Iblees. He refused and was arrogant and became of the disbelievers.
