People of 'Aad

The People of 'Aad were an ancient and mighty civilization, renowned for their immense physical strength and impressive architectural feats, building [on every elevation a sign, amusing yourselves]. Despite their worldly power and advancements, they succumbed to arrogance, polytheism, and strayed far from the path of monotheism. Allah, in His boundless mercy, sent them a prophet from among themselves, their "brother" Hud, to guide them back to truth [26:124]. Prophet Hud earnestly warned them against their idolatry and pride, urging them to worship the One God and abandon their false deities. However, the People of 'Aad stubbornly rejected his clear message, declaring, ["O Hud, you have not brought us clear evidence, and we are not ones to leave our gods on your say-so. Nor are we believers in you"]. Their persistent disbelief and defiance ultimately brought about Allah's severe punishment. As a stark lesson for humanity, they were utterly destroyed, serving as a powerful reminder of the consequences of rejecting divine guidance and messengers. Their story is recounted in the Quran as a poignant cautionary tale, emphasizing that true power and prosperity lie not in worldly might, but in humility and obedience to Allah. [Unquestionably, 'Aad denied their Lord; then away with 'Aad, the people of Hud].

Narrated Ibn `Abbas:The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "I have been made victorious with As-Saba (i.e. an easterly wind) and the people of 'Ad were destroyed by Ad-Dabur (i.e. a westerly wind)
