Scales of Deeds (Mizan)

ميزان الأعمال

The Scales of Deeds (مِيزَان الْأَعْمَال) represent a profound and pivotal concept in Islamic belief, symbolizing divine justice and ultimate accountability on the Day of Judgment. It is the celestial instrument upon which every individual's accumulated good and bad actions will be meticulously weighed. The Quran assures us that [We place the scales of justice for the Day of Resurrection, so no soul will be treated unjustly at all], highlighting Allah's absolute fairness. Believers are taught that even the smallest deed, [the weight of a mustard seed], will be brought forth for reckoning, for [sufficient are We as accountant]. This profound moment will determine one's eternal abode. For [one whose scales are heavy [with good deeds]], there awaits a blissful reward. Conversely, [one whose scales are light] will face the consequences of their choices. This concept serves as a powerful reminder and motivator for Muslims to live lives of righteousness, constantly mindful of their intentions and actions, striving to fill their scales with deeds pleasing to Allah and seeking His boundless mercy.

Quran 8 verses

Walwaznu Yawma'izinil haqq; faman saqulat mawaa zeenuhoo fa-ulaaa'ika humul muflihoon

And the weighing [of deeds] that Day will be the truth. So those whose scales are heavy - it is they who will be the successful.

اور اس روز (اعمال کا) تلنا برحق ہے تو جن لوگوں کے (عملوں کے) وزن بھاری ہوں گے وہ تو نجات پانے والے ہیں

And those whose scales are light - they are the ones who will lose themselves for what injustice they were doing toward Our verses.
