بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ قُلْ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلْكَٰفِرُونَ
Qul yaa-ai yuhal kaafiroon
Say, "O disbelievers,
(اے پیغمبر ان منکران اسلام سے) کہہ دو کہ اے کافرو!

Say ‘O disbelievers!
لَآ أَعْبُدُ مَا تَعْبُدُونَ
Laa a'budu ma t'abudoon
I do not worship what you worship.
جن (بتوں) کو تم پوچتے ہو ان کو میں نہیں پوجتا

I do not worship at present what you worship of idols
وَلَآ أَنتُمْ عَٰبِدُونَ مَآ أَعْبُدُ
Wa laa antum 'aabidoona maa a'bud
Nor are you worshippers of what I worship.
اور جس (خدا) کی میں عبادت کرتا ہوں اس کی تم عبادت نہیں کرتے

and you do not worship at present what I worship and that is God exalted be He alone
وَلَآ أَنَا۠ عَابِدٌ مَّا عَبَدتُّمْ
Wa laa ana 'abidum maa 'abattum
Nor will I be a worshipper of what you worship.
اور (میں پھر کہتا ہوں کہ) جن کی تم پرستش کرتے ہوں ان کی میں پرستش کرنے والا نہیں ہوں

nor will I worship in the future what you have worshipped
وَلَآ أَنتُمْ عَٰبِدُونَ مَآ أَعْبُدُ
Wa laa antum 'aabidoona ma a'bud
Nor will you be worshippers of what I worship.
اور نہ تم اس کی بندگی کرنے والے (معلوم ہوتے) ہو جس کی میں بندگی کرتا ہوں

nor will you worship in the future what I worship God knew that they would never become believers the use of the inanimate mā ‘what’ to refer to God is meant to counter the reference to ‘what thing’ they worship.
لَكُمْ دِينُكُمْ وَلِىَ دِينِ
Lakum deenukum wa liya deen.
For you is your religion, and for me is my religion."
تم اپنے دین پر میں اپنے دین پر

You have your religion idolatry and I have a religion’ Islam this was revealed before he was commanded to wage war against the idolaters all seven Qur’ānic readers omit the yā’ of the genitive possessive construction in wa-liya dīni whether with a pause or without; Ya‘qūb however retains it in both cases.
