Fear of Allah (Taqwa)

The concept of *Taqwa* (Fear of Allah) is a cornerstone of Islamic spirituality, representing far more than mere apprehension. It embodies a profound, conscious awareness of Allah's presence, an acute sensitivity to His commands, and a diligent effort to live in a way that pleases Him. This includes piety, righteousness, and a mindful guarding against any action that might incur His displeasure. A person characterized by *Taqwa* is often described as *muttaqi*, one who seeks to align their will with Allah's, driven by love, hope, and reverence. The Quran tells us that [righteousness is in one who fears Allah], and it is through this consciousness that one truly succeeds. It leads to inner peace and divine guidance, as Allah promises to be [with those who fear Him]. This awareness serves as the ultimate moral compass, encouraging good deeds and deterring from wrongdoing, recognizing that [the best provision is fear of Allah]. Ultimately, *Taqwa* is a constant state of remembrance, fostering a life lived with accountability and anticipation of the ultimate return, knowing that [unto Him you will be gathered].

They ask you, [O Muhammad], about the new moons. Say, "They are measurements of time for the people and for Hajj." And it is not righteousness to enter houses from the back, but righteousness is [in] one who fears Allah. And enter houses from their doors. And fear Allah that you may succeed.

O you who have believed, fear Allah. And let every soul look to what it has put forth for tomorrow - and fear Allah. Indeed, Allah is Acquainted with what you do.
