Humility

Humility, known in Arabic as *Tawadhu'*, is a cherished spiritual quality in Islam, guiding believers to walk through life with a profound sense of modesty and awareness of their place before the Almighty Creator. It is not self-abasement, but rather a sincere recognition of one's limitations and dependence on Allah, avoiding any trace of arrogance or self-importance. The Quran beautifully illustrates this virtue, reminding us that [seeking help through patience and prayer is difficult except for the humbly submissive]. This mindset allows a person to truly open their heart to divine guidance and assistance. Cultivating *Tawadhu'* means approaching Allah with sincerity, as believers are encouraged to [call upon their Lord in humility and privately], knowing that He dislikes those who transgress in pride. It is a path to divine forgiveness and blessings, as demonstrated when people were instructed to [enter a gate bowing humbly and say, 'Relieve us of our burdens,' so that Allah would forgive their sins and increase the doers of good]. Humility, therefore, fosters a deeper connection with Allah, paving the way for spiritual growth and inner peace, reflecting a heart content with its servitude to the Most High.

Only those believe in Our verses who, when they are reminded by them, fall down in prostration and exalt [Allah] with praise of their Lord, and they are not arrogant.

Ma'arif-ul-Quran: Commentary In verse 11, it was said: (Say, "The angel of death who has been assigned for you will take you in full" -11). Has the time not come for those who have believed that their hearts should become humbly submissive at the remembrance of Allah and what has come down of the truth? And let them not be like those who were given the Scripture before, and a long period passed over them, so their hearts hardened; and many of them are defiantly disobedient.
