Warning and Good Tidings

"Warning and Good Tidings" (Al-Indhar wal-Bushra) represents the profound dual message at the heart of all prophetic missions in Islam, a gentle yet firm call to humanity. Prophets, including Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), were sent as messengers to [warn mankind and give good tidings to those who believe]. This intricate balance serves to guide people towards truth and away from error. The warning aspect (al-Indhar) awakens those who are heedless, reminding them of the consequences of disbelief and sin, and of a divine reckoning. It serves to [warn of severe punishment from Him] for those who persist in turning away from Allah's guidance. This is not out of malice, but out of divine mercy, offering a chance for reflection and repentance before it is too late. Conversely, the good tidings (al-Bushra) offer immense hope and comfort to those who believe and strive to live righteously. It promises them [a good reward] and [forgiveness and noble reward], fostering a deep sense of peace and motivation. The Quran itself is revealed to facilitate this, so that we may [give good tidings thereby to the righteous and warn thereby a hostile people]. This dual approach underscores Allah's justice and boundless mercy, providing clear pathways to spiritual well-being and eternal felicity.

Quran 5 verses

A kaana linnaasi 'aaban an awhainaaa ilaa rajulim minhum an anzirin naasa wa bashshiril lazeena aamanoo anna lahum qadama sidqin 'inda Rabbihim; qaalal kaafiroona inna haaza lasaahirum mubeen

Have the people been amazed that We revealed [revelation] to a man from among them, [saying], "Warn mankind and give good tidings to those who believe that they will have a [firm] precedence of honor with their Lord"? [But] the disbelievers say, "Indeed, this is an obvious magician."
