Beginning of Quranic Revelation

نزول الوحي

The beginning of Quranic revelation, known in Arabic as *Nuzul al-Wahy*, marks a pivotal moment in Islamic history: the initial encounter between Prophet Muhammad and the angel Jibreel (Gabriel), signaling the start of his prophethood. This momentous event is traditionally understood to have occurred when Muhammad, then around 40 years old, was in spiritual retreat in the Cave of Hira, near Mecca. It was there that Jibreel appeared to him and commanded him to "Read!" The Prophet's initial awe and humility were met with the forceful repetition of the command, leading to the revelation of the first verses of the Quran: [Read! In the name of your Lord who created], [Created man from a clinging clot]. This divine communication was not a one-time event but unfolded gradually over 23 years, providing humanity with [a clear light] and [a healing for what is in the breasts]. It was the beginning of God's final message, guiding humanity towards [the straight path] and forming the foundational text of Islam.
