Belief/Faith

الإيمان

_Iman_, the Arabic word for belief or faith, is the foundational essence of a Muslim's spiritual life, representing a heartfelt conviction that permeates one's being and actions. It encompasses a sincere acceptance of the six core articles of faith: belief in Allah as the One God, His angels, His revealed books, His messengers, the Last Day, and divine decree (Qadar). This profound belief allows one to [believe in the unseen], extending beyond sensory perception to embrace the spiritual realities taught by revelation. *Iman* is not merely an intellectual assent but a vibrant commitment that shapes one's worldview and conduct, prompting believers to live righteously. It includes affirming [what has been revealed to you, [O Muhammad], and what was revealed before you, and of the Hereafter they are certain [in faith]]. This understanding underscores the continuity of divine guidance, as Muslims affirm, [We have believed in Allah and what has been revealed to us and what has been revealed to Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac and Jacob... and what was given to Moses and Jesus and what was given to the prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them]. This faith provides a sense of purpose and accountability, instilling certainty in believers [that they will meet their Lord and that they will return to Him].
