سَلْ بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ كَمْ ءَاتَيْنَٰهُم مِّنْ ءَايَةٍۭ بَيِّنَةٍ وَمَن يُبَدِّلْ نِعْمَةَ ٱللَّهِ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَا جَآءَتْهُ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ شَدِيدُ ٱلْعِقَابِ
Sal Banee Israaa'eela kam aatainaahum min aayatim baiyinah; wa mai yubaddil ni'matal laahi mim ba'di maa jaaa'athu fa innallaaha shadeedul'iqaab
Ask the Children of Israel how many a sign of evidence We have given them. And whoever exchanges the favor of Allah [for disbelief] after it has come to him - then indeed, Allah is severe in penalty.
(اے محمد) بنی اسرائیل سے پوچھو کہ ہم نے ان کو کتنی کھلی نشانیاں دیں۔ اور جو شخص خدا کی نعمت کو اپنے پاس آنے کے بعد بدل دے تو خدا سخت عذاب کرنے والا ہے

Wa qaala lahum Nabiyyuhum inna Aayata mulkiheee ai yaatiyakumut Taabootu feei sakeenatummir Rabbikum wa baqiyyatummimmaa taraka Aalu Moosa wa Aalu Haaroona tahmiluhul malaaa'ikah; inna fee zaalika la Aayatal lakum in kuntum mu'mineen
And their prophet said to them, "Indeed, a sign of his kingship is that the chest will come to you in which is assurance from your Lord and a remnant of what the family of Moses and the family of Aaron had left, carried by the angels. Indeed in that is a sign for you, if you are believers."
اور پیغمبر نے ان سے کہا کہ ان کی بادشاہی کی نشانی یہ ہے کہ تمہارے پاس ایک صندوق آئے گا جس کو فرشتے اٹھائے ہوئے ہوں گے اس میں تمہارے پروردگار کی طرف سے تسلی (بخشنے والی چیز) ہوگی اور کچھ اور چیزیں بھی ہوں گی جو موسیٰ اور ہارون چھوڑ گئے تھے۔ اگر تم ایمان رکھتے ہو تو یہ تمہارے لئے ایک بڑی نشانی ہے

أَوْ كَٱلَّذِى مَرَّ عَلَىٰ قَرْيَةٍ وَهِىَ خَاوِيَةٌ عَلَىٰ عُرُوشِهَا قَالَ أَنَّىٰ يُحْىِۦ هَٰذِهِ ٱللَّهُ بَعْدَ مَوْتِهَا فَأَمَاتَهُ ٱللَّهُ مِا۟ئَةَ عَامٍ ثُمَّ بَعَثَهُۥ قَالَ كَمْ لَبِثْتَ قَالَ لَبِثْتُ يَوْمًا أَوْ بَعْضَ يَوْمٍ قَالَ بَل لَّبِثْتَ مِا۟ئَةَ عَامٍ فَٱنظُرْ إِلَىٰ طَعَامِكَ وَشَرَابِكَ لَمْ يَتَسَنَّهْ وَٱنظُرْ إِلَىٰ حِمَارِكَ وَلِنَجْعَلَكَ ءَايَةً لِّلنَّاسِ وَٱنظُرْ إِلَى ٱلْعِظَامِ كَيْفَ نُنشِزُهَا ثُمَّ نَكْسُوهَا لَحْمًا فَلَمَّا تَبَيَّنَ لَهُۥ قَالَ أَعْلَمُ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيرٌ
Aw kallazee marra 'alaa qaryatinw wa hiya khaawiyatun 'alaa 'urooshihaa qaala annaa yuhyee haazihil laahu ba'da mawtihaa fa amaatahul laahu mi'ata 'aamin suumma ba'asahoo qaala kam labista qaala labistu yawman aw ba'da yawmin qaala bal labista mi'ata 'aamin fanzur ilaa ta'aamika wa sharaabika lam yatasannah wanzur ilaa himaarika wa linaj'alaka Aayatal linnaasi wanzur ilal'izaami kaifa nunshizuhaa summa naksoohaa lahmaa; falammaa tabiyana lahoo qaala a'lamu annal laaha 'alaakulli shai'in Qadeer
Or [consider such an example] as the one who passed by a township which had fallen into ruin. He said, "How will Allah bring this to life after its death?" So Allah caused him to die for a hundred years; then He revived him. He said, "How long have you remained?" The man said, "I have remained a day or part of a day." He said, "Rather, you have remained one hundred years. Look at your food and your drink; it has not changed with time. And look at your donkey; and We will make you a sign for the people. And look at the bones [of this donkey] - how We raise them and then We cover them with flesh." And when it became clear to him, he said, "I know that Allah is over all things competent."
یا اسی طرح اس شخص کو (نہیں دیکھا) جسے ایک گاؤں میں جو اپنی چھتوں پر گرا پڑا تھا اتفاق گزر ہوا۔ تو اس نے کہا کہ خدا اس (کے باشندوں) کو مرنے کے بعد کیونکر زندہ کرے گا۔ تو خدا نے اس کی روح قبض کرلی (اور) سو برس تک (اس کو مردہ رکھا) پھر اس کو جلا اٹھایا اور پوچھا تم کتنا عرصہ (مرے) رہے ہو اس نے جواب دیا کہ ایک دن یا اس سے بھی کم۔ خدا نے فرمایا (نہیں) بلکہ سو برس (مرے) رہے ہو۔ اور اپنے کھانے پینے کی چیزوں کو دیکھو کہ (اتنی مدت میں مطلق) سڑی بسی نہیں اور اپنے گدھے کو بھی دیکھو (جو مرا پڑا ہے) غرض (ان باتوں سے) یہ ہے کہ ہم تم کو لوگوں کے لئے (اپنی قدرت کی) نشانی بنائیں اور (ہاں گدھے) کی ہڈیوں کو دیکھو کہ ہم ان کو کیونکر جوڑے دیتے اور ان پر (کس طرح) گوشت پوست چڑھا دیتے ہیں۔ جب یہ واقعات اس کے مشاہدے میں آئے تو بول اٹھا کہ میں یقین کرتا ہوں کہ خدا ہر چیز پر قادر ہے

Ma'arif-ul-Quran: In the third verse (97), it was said: وَهُوَ الَّذِي جَعَلَ لَكُمُ النُّجُومَ لِتَهْتَدُوا بِهَا فِي ظُلُمَاتِ الْبَرِّ وَالْبَحْرِ (And He is the one who made for you the stars, so that you may be guided by them in 'darknesses' of the land and the sea). Tafsir al-Jalalayn: And He it is Who appointed for you the stars that you may guide your course by them amid the darkness of land and sea when travelling. Verily We have distinguished We have elucidated the signs the proofs of Our power for a people who have knowledge a people who reflect.
Tafsir Ibn Kathir (English): Recognizing Allah Through Some of His Ayat
Allah states that He causes the seed grain and the fruit stone to split and sprout in the ground, producing various types, colors, shapes, and tastes of grains and produce. The Ayah,
فَالِقُ الْحَبِّ وَالنَّوَى
(Who causes the seed grain and the fruit stone...
وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَنشَأَكُم مِّن نَّفْسٍ وَٰحِدَةٍ فَمُسْتَقَرٌّ وَمُسْتَوْدَعٌ قَدْ فَصَّلْنَا ٱلْـَٔايَٰتِ لِقَوْمٍ يَفْقَهُونَ
Wa hhuwal lazeee ansha akum min nasinw waahidatin famustaqarrunw wa mustawda'; qad fassalnal Aayaati liqaw miny-yafqahoon
And it is He who produced you from one soul and [gave you] a place of dwelling and of storage. We have detailed the signs for a people who understand.

يَـأَيُّهَا النَّاسُ اتَّقُواْ رَبَّكُمُ الَّذِى خَلَقَكُمْ مِّن نَّفْسٍ وَحِدَةٍ وَخَلَقَ مِنْهَا زَوْجَهَا وَبَثَّ مِنْهُم...
وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَنزَلَ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَآءً فَأَخْرَجْنَا بِهِۦ نَبَاتَ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ فَأَخْرَجْنَا مِنْهُ خَضِرًا نُّخْرِجُ مِنْهُ حَبًّا مُّتَرَاكِبًا وَمِنَ ٱلنَّخْلِ مِن طَلْعِهَا قِنْوَانٌ دَانِيَةٌ وَجَنَّٰتٍ مِّنْ أَعْنَابٍ وَٱلزَّيْتُونَ وَٱلرُّمَّانَ مُشْتَبِهًا وَغَيْرَ مُتَشَٰبِهٍ ٱنظُرُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰ ثَمَرِهِۦٓ إِذَآ أَثْمَرَ وَيَنْعِهِۦٓ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكُمْ لَـَٔايَٰتٍ لِّقَوْمٍ يُؤْمِنُونَ
Wa Huwal lazeee anzala minas samaaa'i maaa'an fa akhrajnaa bihee nabaata kulli shai'in fa akhrajnaa minhu khadiran nukhriju minhu habbam mutaraakibanw wa minan nakhli min tal'ihaa qinwaanun daaniyatunw wa jannaatim min a'naabinw wazzaitoona warrummaana mushhtabihanw wa ghaira mutashaabih; unzurooo ilaa samariheee izaaa asmars wa yan'ih; inna fee zaalikum la Aayaatil liqawminy yu'minoon
And it is He who sends down rain from the sky, and We produce thereby the growth of all things. We produce from it greenery from which We produce grains arranged in layers. And from the palm trees - of its emerging fruit are clusters hanging low. And [We produce] gardens of grapevines and olives and pomegranates, similar yet varied. Look at [each of] its fruit when it yields and [at] its ripening. Indeed in that are signs for a people who believe.
اور وہی تو ہے جو آسمان سے مینھ برساتا ہے۔ پھر ہم ہی (جو مینھ برساتے ہیں) اس سے ہر طرح کی روئیدگی اگاتے ہیں۔ پھر اس میں سے سبز سبز کونپلیں نکالتے ہیں۔ اور ان کونپلوں میں سے ایک دوسرے کے ساتھ جڑے ہوئے دانے نکالتے ہیں اور کھجور کے گابھے میں سے لٹکتے ہوئے گچھے اور انگوروں کے باغ اور زیتون اور انار جو ایک دوسرے سے ملتے جلتے بھی ہیں۔ اور نہیں بھی ملتے۔ یہ چیزیں جب پھلتی ہیں تو ان کے پھلوں پر اور (جب پکتی ہیں تو) ان کے پکنے پر نظر کرو۔ ان میں ان لوگوں کے لئے جو ایمان لاتے ہیں (قدرت خدا کی بہت سی) نشانیاں ہیں

And the good land - its vegetation emerges by permission of its Lord; but that which is bad - nothing emerges except sparsely, with difficulty. Thus do We diversify the signs for a people who are grateful.

إِنَّمَا مَثَلُ ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا كَمَآءٍ أَنزَلْنَٰهُ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ فَٱخْتَلَطَ بِهِۦ نَبَاتُ ٱلْأَرْضِ مِمَّا يَأْكُلُ ٱلنَّاسُ وَٱلْأَنْعَٰمُ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَآ أَخَذَتِ ٱلْأَرْضُ زُخْرُفَهَا وَٱزَّيَّنَتْ وَظَنَّ أَهْلُهَآ أَنَّهُمْ قَٰدِرُونَ عَلَيْهَآ أَتَىٰهَآ أَمْرُنَا لَيْلًا أَوْ نَهَارًا فَجَعَلْنَٰهَا حَصِيدًا كَأَن لَّمْ تَغْنَ بِٱلْأَمْسِ كَذَٰلِكَ نُفَصِّلُ ٱلْـَٔايَٰتِ لِقَوْمٍ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ
Innamaa masalul hayaatid dunyaa kammaaa'in anzalnaahu minas sammaaa'i fakhtalata bihee nabaatul ardi mimmaa yaakulun naasu wal an'aam; hattaaa izaaa akhazatil ardu zukhrufahaa wazziyanat wa zanna ahluhaaa annahum qaadiroona 'alaihaaa ataahaaa amrunaa lailan aw nahaaran faja'alnaahaa haseedan ka allam taghna bil-ams; kazaalika nufassilul aayaati liqawminy yatafakkaroon
The example of [this] worldly life is but like rain which We have sent down from the sky that the plants of the earth absorb - [those] from which men and livestock eat - until, when the earth has taken on its adornment and is beautified and its people suppose that they have capability over it, there comes to it Our command by night or by day, and We make it as a harvest, as if it had not flourished yesterday. Thus do We explain in detail the signs for a people who give thought.
دنیا کی زندگی کی مثال مینھہ کی سی ہے کہ ہم نے اس کو آسمان سے برسایا۔ پھر اس کے ساتھ سبزہ جسے آدمی اور جانور کھاتے ہیں مل کر نکلا یہاں تک کہ زمین سبزے سے خوشنما اور آراستہ ہوگئی اور زمین والوں نے خیال کیا کہ وہ اس پر پوری دسترس رکھتے ہیں ناگہاں رات کو یا دن کو ہمارا حکم (عذاب) آپہنچا تو ہم نے اس کو کاٹ (کر ایسا کر) ڈالا کہ گویا کل وہاں کچھ تھا ہی نہیں۔ جو لوگ غور کرنے والے ہیں۔ ان کے لیے ہم (اپنی قدرت کی) نشانیاں اسی طرح کھول کھول کر بیان کرتے ہیں

Ma'arif-ul-Quran: The warning given in verse 23: إِنَّمَا بَغْيُكُمْ عَلَىٰ أَنفُسِكُم (your rebellion is, in fact, against your own-selves) tells us that the curse of injustice is certain and, much before matters are settled in the Hereafter, one who is guilty of doing injustice must suffer from its evil consequence...

Falyawma nunajjeeka bibadanika litakoona liman khalfaka Aayah; wa inna kaseeram minan naasi 'an aayaatinaa laghaafiloon
So today We will save you in body that you may be to those who succeed you a sign. And indeed, many among the people, of Our signs, are heedless

Allaahul lazee raf'as samaawaati bighairi 'amadin tarawnahaa summas tawaa 'alal 'Arshi wa sakhkharash shamsa walqamara kulluny yajree li ajalim musammaa; yudabbirul amra yufassilil Aayaati la'allakum biliqaaa'i Rabbikum tooqinoon
It is Allah who erected the heavens without pillars that you [can] see; then He established Himself above the Throne and made subject the sun and the moon, each running [its course] for a specified term. He arranges [each] matter; He details the signs that you may, of the meeting with your Lord, be certain.

Exalted is He who took His Servant by night from al-Masjid al-Haram to al-Masjid al-Aqsa, whose surroundings We have blessed, to show him of Our signs. Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Seeing.

And We have made the night and day two signs, and We erased the sign of the night and made the sign of the day visible that you may seek bounty from your Lord and may know the number of years and the account [of time]. And everything We have set out in detail.

And [had you been present], you would see the sun when it rose, inclining away from their cave on the right, and when it set, passing away from them on the left, while they were [laying] within an open space thereof. That was from the signs of Allah. He whom Allah guides is the [rightly] guided, but he whom He leaves astray - never will you find for him a protecting guide.

Insert your hand into the opening of your garment; it will come out white, without disease. And draw in your arm close to you [as prevention] from fear, for those are two proofs from your Lord to Pharaoh and his establishment. Indeed, they have been a people defiantly disobedient."

In the explanation of the previous Ayah, we have already seen that Musa completed the longer and better of the two terms, which may also be understood from the Ayah where Allah says:
فَلَمَّا قَضَى مُوسَى الاٌّجَل...
قَالَ سَنَشُدُّ عَضُدَكَ بِأَخِيكَ وَنَجْعَلُ لَكُمَا سُلْطَٰنًا فَلَا يَصِلُونَ إِلَيْكُمَا بِـَٔايَٰتِنَآ أَنتُمَا وَمَنِ ٱتَّبَعَكُمَا ٱلْغَٰلِبُونَ
Qaala sanashuddu 'adudaka bi akheeka wa naj'alu lakumaa sultaanan falaa yasiloona ilaikumaa; bi Aayaatinaa antumaa wa manit taba'akumal ghaaliboon
[Allah] said, "We will strengthen your arm through your brother and grant you both supremacy so they will not reach you. [It will be] through Our signs; you and those who follow you will be the predominant."

Ma'arif-ul-Quran: A sermon should have high degree of eloquence
هُوَ أَفْصَحُ مِنِّي لِسَانًا (He is more fluent in his tongue - 28:34). This verse points out that a high degree of oratory and eloquence is desirable for sermons and preaching, and there is no harm if one takes training in that.
Tafsir al-Jalalayn: He said ‘We will strengthen your arm We will make you strong by means of your brother and We will give authority victory so that they will not be able to touch either of you with any evil; go both of you with Our signs the two of you and those who follow you two will be the victors’ over them.

But when Moses came to them with Our signs as clear evidences, they said, "This is not except invented magic, and we have not heard of this [religion] among our forefathers."

And when waves come over them like canopies, they supplicate Allah, sincere to Him in religion. But when He delivers them to the land, there are [some] of them who are moderate [in faith]. And none rejects Our signs except everyone treacherous and ungrateful.

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يُجَٰدِلُونَ فِىٓ ءَايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ بِغَيْرِ سُلْطَٰنٍ أَتَىٰهُمْ إِن فِى صُدُورِهِمْ إِلَّا كِبْرٌ مَّا هُم بِبَٰلِغِيهِ فَٱسْتَعِذْ بِٱللَّهِ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلْبَصِيرُ
Innal lazeena yujaadi loona feee Aayaatil laahi bighairi sultaanin ataahum in fee sudoorihim illaa kibrum maa hum bibaaligheeh; fasta'iz billaahi innahoo Huwas Samee'ul Baseer
Indeed, those who dispute concerning the signs of Allah without [any] authority having come to them - there is not within their breasts except pride, [the extent of] which they cannot reach. So seek refuge in Allah. Indeed, it is He who is the Hearing, the Seeing.
