The Town Showered with an Evil Rain

"The Town Showered with an Evil Rain" refers to the ancient communities, often identified as Sodom and Gomorrah, where Prophet Lut (Lot in the Bible) was sent to guide his people. These towns are presented in the Quran as a powerful reminder of divine justice and the severe consequences of extreme moral corruption. Despite the earnest warnings from Prophet Lut to abandon their grave and unprecedented acts of immorality, his people defiantly persisted in their sins. As a result of their transgression and rejection of God's commands, Allah brought down a devastating punishment upon them. The Quran describes that [We rained upon them a rain [of stones]], an act of divine retribution that profoundly impacted the landscape and served as a lasting sign. Indeed, [evil was the rain of those who were warned]. The story of this town stands as a poignant cautionary tale for all humanity, urging reflection on the fate of those who reject guidance and embrace evil. The Quran invites us to ponder, [And they have already come upon the town which was showered with a rain of evil. So have they not seen it?] It underscores the importance of heedfulness and adherence to moral principles.

Quran 2 verses

Wa laqad ataw 'alal qaryatil lateee umtirat mataras saw'; afalam yakoonoo yarawnahaa; bal kaanoo laa yarjoona nushooraa

And they have already come upon the town which was showered with a rain of evil. So have they not seen it? But they are not expecting resurrection.
