Companions of the Elephant

أصحاب الفيل

"The Companions of the Elephant" refers to the formidable army led by Abraha, the Abyssinian ruler of Yemen, who marched towards Makkah with elephants around the year 570 CE. Their grand ambition was to destroy the Kaaba, the Sacred House of Allah, diverting pilgrimage to a cathedral Abraha had built in Yemen. However, Allah, in His infinite wisdom and power, miraculously intervened to protect His House. The Quran asks, [Have you not considered, O Muhammad, how your Lord dealt with the companions of the elephant?] Their elaborate and destructive plan was utterly thwarted, as [Did He not make their plan into misguidance?] Allah sent against them [birds in flocks, Striking them with stones of hard clay, And He made them like eaten straw.]. This extraordinary event, occurring just before the birth of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), serves as a profound testament to Allah's absolute power and His divine protection of the Kaaba, highlighting its sanctity and significance even before the dawn of Islam. It remains a powerful reminder that no force can prevail against the will of the Almighty.

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ أَلَمْ تَرَ كَيْفَ فَعَلَ رَبُّكَ بِأَصْحَٰبِ ٱلْفِيلِ

Alam tara kaifa fa'ala rabbuka bi ashaabil feel

Have you not considered, [O Muhammad], how your Lord dealt with the companions of the elephant?
