Job's Trial

بَلَاءُ أَيُّوب

Prophet Ayyub (Job), revered in Islam, is known for his profound trial, or *Bala' Ayyub*, which stands as an exemplary testament to human endurance and divine mercy. Afflicted with severe losses—of wealth, family, and health—he faced unimaginable suffering, often attributed to the instigation of Satan. Yet, in his deepest despair, Prophet Ayyub never wavered in his trust in Allah. He turned to his Lord with humble, heartfelt prayers, acknowledging his dire situation: "Indeed, adversity has touched me, and You are the Most Merciful of the merciful" [21:83]. In another poignant supplication, he recognized the source of his tribulation, praying, "Indeed, Satan has touched me with hardship and torment" [38:41]. Despite immense pain and loneliness, his unwavering patience (*sabr*) and absolute reliance on God (*tawakkul*) remained steadfast. Allah ultimately relieved his suffering, restored his blessings, and made him an enduring example. As the Quran states, "Indeed, We found him patient, an excellent servant. Indeed, he was one who repeatedly turned to Us" [38:44]. Job's trial offers profound lessons for believers facing hardship, reminding them to hold onto faith and hope, knowing that relief and divine reward await those who patiently endure.
