Abraham's Supplication for Makkah
دعاء إبراهيم لمكة
Prophet Ibrahim's fervent supplication for Makkah is a poignant moment in Islamic history, reflecting his deep devotion and foresight. Having left his wife Hajar and infant son Isma'il in the barren valley, Ibrahim turned to Allah with profound prayers for the future of this sacred land. He pleaded, [My Lord, make this city [Makkah] secure and keep me and my sons away from worshipping idols], seeking not only safety for the nascent settlement but also safeguarding his lineage from the pervasive idolatry of his time. His prayers extended further, asking for provision for its inhabitants and for the hearts of people to incline towards them, so they might establish prayer [Our Lord, I have settled some of my descendants in an uncultivated valley near Your sacred House, our Lord, that they may establish prayer. So make hearts among the people incline toward them and provide for them from the fruits that they might be grateful]. This powerful supplication, also echoed in his prayer [My Lord, make this a secure city and provide its people with fruits], was profoundly answered. Makkah became a sanctuary of peace and a center of monotheism, a beacon for Muslims worldwide, and a testament to Allah's responsiveness to the sincere pleas of His prophets.
