Destruction of Madyan

The Destruction of Madyan marks a significant event in Islamic history, recounting the divine judgment upon a community that rejected the message of Prophet Shu'ayb (peace be upon him). The people of Madyan were known for their corrupt trade practices, particularly cheating in measures and weights, and for their disbelief in God's oneness. Prophet Shu'ayb tirelessly called them to justice, fair dealings, and the worship of Allah alone, warning them of the consequences of their transgressions. However, they persisted in their denial and wrongdoing. As a result, Allah's decree came, and [the earthquake seized them, and they became within their home [corpses] fallen prone]. Other verses describe how [the shriek seized those who had wronged], utterly devastating the community. Yet, through divine mercy, [We saved Shu'ayb and those who believed with him]. This dramatic event serves as a profound reminder within Islamic tradition of the importance of upholding justice, honesty in transactions, and responding to the call of God's prophets. Their end was so complete, [as if they had never prospered therein], a powerful lesson on the fate of those who deny truth and persist in corruption, demonstrating Allah's justice.

Quran 4 verses

Fa akhazat humur rajfatu fa asbahoo fee daarihim jaasimeen

So the earthquake seized them, and they became within their home [corpses] fallen prone.

Ka-al-lam yaghnaw feehaaa; alaa bu'dal li Madyana Kamaa ba'idat Samood

As if they had never prospered therein. Then, away with Madyan as Thamud was taken away.
