Brothers' Plot Against Joseph

مؤامرة إخوة يوسف

The Brothers' Plot Against Joseph is a profoundly poignant and pivotal event in the Quranic narrative of Prophet Yusuf (Joseph), recounted in Surah Yusuf. Driven by intense envy and a sense of feeling marginalized by their father, Jacob, who dearly loved young Joseph, his elder brothers conspired against him. Their malicious intent was clear, as one of them suggested: [“Kill Joseph or cast him out to [another] land; the countenance of your father will [then] be only for you, and you will be after that a righteous people.”]. This act of betrayal was born from a desire to reclaim their father's undivided attention, believing that removing Joseph would cleanse their hearts. However, Allah's plan unfolded differently. Instead of death, Joseph was cast into a well, an act that ultimately led him from servitude to a position of immense power in Egypt. This entire episode serves as a powerful testament to Allah's divine wisdom and control, revealing how trials can be pathways to greater good. The Quran emphasizes the miraculous nature of this revelation to Prophet Muhammad, stating, [“That is from the news of the unseen which We reveal, [O Muhammad], to you. And you were not with them when they put together their plan while they conspired.”]. It's a timeless story highlighting themes of jealousy, patience, divine providence, and ultimately, forgiveness and reconciliation.

Quran 2 verses

Uqtuloo Yoosufa awitra hoohu ardany yakhlu lakum wajhu abeekum wa takoonoo mim ba'dihee qawman saaliheen

Kill Joseph or cast him out to [another] land; the countenance of your father will [then] be only for you, and you will be after that a righteous people."
