Wattaqoo Yawmal laa tajzee nafsun 'an nafsin shai'anw wa laa yuqbalu minhaa shafaa'atunw wa laa yu'khazu minhaa 'adlunw wa laa hum yunsaroon
And fear a Day when no soul will suffice for another soul at all, nor will intercession be accepted from it, nor will compensation be taken from it, nor will they be aided.

Tafsir Ibn Kathir (English): After Allah reminded the Children of Israel of the favors that He has granted them, He warned them about the duration of the torment which He will punish them with on the Day of Resurrection. He said,
وَاتَّقُواْ يَوْمًا

لاَّ تَجْزِى نَفْسٌ عَن نَّف...

Allah does not impose blame upon you for what is unintentional in your oaths, but He imposes blame upon you for what your hearts have earned. And Allah is Forgiving and Forbearing.

Lillaahi maa fissamaawaati wa maa fil ard; wa in tubdoo maa feee anfusikum aw tukhfoohu yuhaasibkum bihil laa; fayaghfiru li mai yashaaa'u wa yu'azzibu mai yashaaa u;wallaahu 'alaa kulli shai in qadeer
To Allah belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth. Whether you show what is within yourselves or conceal it, Allah will bring you to account for it. Then He will forgive whom He wills and punish whom He wills, and Allah is over all things competent.
جو کچھ آسمانوں میں اور جو کچھ زمین میں ہے سب خدا ہی کا ہے۔ تم اپنے دلوں کی بات کو ظاہر کرو گے تو یا چھپاؤ گے تو خدا تم سے اس کا حساب لے گا پھر وہ جسے چاہے مغفرت کرے اور جسے چاہے عذاب دے۔ اور خدا ہر چیز پر قادر ہے

Laa yukalliful-laahu nafsan illaa wus'ahaa; lahaa maa kasabat wa 'alaihaa maktasabat; Rabbanaa la tu'aakhiznaa in naseenaaa aw akhtaanaa; Rabbanaa wa laa tahmil-'alainaaa isran kamaa hamaltahoo 'alal-lazeena min qablinaa; Rabbanaa wa laa tuhammilnaa maa laa taaqata lanaa bih wa'fu 'annaa waghfir lanaa warhamnaa; Anta mawlaanaa fansurnaa 'alal qawmil kaafireen
Allah does not charge a soul except [with that within] its capacity. It will have [the consequence of] what [good] it has gained, and it will bear [the consequence of] what [evil] it has earned. "Our Lord, do not impose blame upon us if we have forgotten or erred. Our Lord, and lay not upon us a burden like that which You laid upon those before us. Our Lord, and burden us not with that which we have no ability to bear. And pardon us; and forgive us; and have mercy upon us. You are our protector, so give us victory over the disbelieving people."

And let not those who [greedily] withhold what Allah has given them of His bounty ever think that it is better for them. Rather, it is worse for them. Their necks will be encircled by what they withheld on the Day of Resurrection. And to Allah belongs the heritage of the heavens and the earth. And Allah, with what you do, is [fully] Acquainted.

Wabtalul yataamaa hattaaa izaa balaghun nikaaha fa in aanastum minhum rushdan fad fa'ooo ilaihim amwaalahum wa laa taa kuloohaaa israafanw wa bidaaran ai yakbaroo; wa mai kaana ghaniyyan falyasta' fif wa mai kaana faqeeran falyaakul bilma'roof; fa izaa dafa'tum ilaihim amwaalahum fa'ashhidoo 'alaihim; wa kafaa billaahi Haseeba
And test the orphans [in their abilities] until they reach marriageable age. Then if you perceive in them sound judgement, release their property to them. And do not consume it excessively and quickly, [anticipating] that they will grow up. And whoever, [when acting as guardian], is self-sufficient should refrain [from taking a fee]; and whoever is poor - let him take according to what is acceptable. Then when you release their property to them, bring witnesses upon them. And sufficient is Allah as Accountant.

يَسْـَٔلُونَكَ مَاذَآ أُحِلَّ لَهُمْ قُلْ أُحِلَّ لَكُمُ ٱلطَّيِّبَٰتُ وَمَا عَلَّمْتُم مِّنَ ٱلْجَوَارِحِ مُكَلِّبِينَ تُعَلِّمُونَهُنَّ مِمَّا عَلَّمَكُمُ ٱللَّهُ فَكُلُوا۟ مِمَّآ أَمْسَكْنَ عَلَيْكُمْ وَٱذْكُرُوا۟ ٱسْمَ ٱللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ سَرِيعُ ٱلْحِسَابِ
Yas'aloonaka maazaaa uhilla lahum; qul uhilla lakumuttaiyibaatu wa maa'allamtum minal jawaarihi mukallibeena tu'allimoonahunnamimmaa 'allamakumul laahu fakuloo mimmaaa amsakna 'alaikum wazkurus mal laahi 'alaih; wattaqul laah; innal laaha saree'ul hisaab
They ask you, [O Muhammad], what has been made lawful for them. Say, "Lawful for you are [all] good foods and [game caught by] what you have trained of hunting animals which you train as Allah has taught you. So eat of what they catch for you, and mention the name of Allah upon it, and fear Allah." Indeed, Allah is swift in account.
تم سے پوچھتے ہیں کہ کون کون سی چیزیں ان کے لیے حلال ہیں (ان سے) کہہ دو کہ سب پاکیزہ چیزیں تم کو حلال ہیں اور وہ (شکار) بھی حلال ہے جو تمہارے لیے ان شکاری جانوروں نے پکڑا ہو جن کو تم نے سدھا رکھا ہو اور جس (طریق) سے خدا نے تمہیں (شکار کرنا) سکھایا ہے (اس طریق سے) تم نے ان کو سکھایا ہو تو جو شکار وہ تمہارے لئے پکڑ رکھیں اس کو کھا لیا کرو اور (شکاری جانوروں کو چھوڑتے وقت) خدا کا نام لے لیا کرو اور خدا سے ڈرتے رہو۔ بےشک خدا جلد حساب لینے والا ہے

O you who have believed, upon you is [responsibility for] yourselves. Those who have gone astray will not harm you when you have been guided. To Allah is you return all together; then He will inform you of what you used to do.

And do not send away those who call upon their Lord morning and afternoon, seeking His countenance. Not upon you is anything of their account and not upon them is anything of your account. So were you to send them away, you would [then] be of the wrongdoers.

Wa Huwal lazee yatawaf faakum billaili wa ya'lamu maa jarahtum binnahaari summa yab'asukum fee liyuqdaaa ajalum musamman summa ilaihi marji'ukum summa yunabbi 'ukum bimaa kuntum ta'maloon
And it is He who takes your souls by night and knows what you have committed by day. Then He revives you therein that a specified term may be fulfilled. Then to Him will be your return; then He will inform you about what you used to do.
اور وہی تو ہے جو رات کو (سونے کی حالت میں) تمہاری روح قبض کرلیتا ہے اور جو کچھ تم دن میں کرتے ہو اس سے خبر رکھتا ہے پھر تمہیں دن کو اٹھا دیتا ہے تاکہ (یہی سلسلہ جاری رکھ کر زندگی کی) معین مدت پوری کردی جائے پھر تم (سب) کو اسی کی طرف لوٹ کر جانا ہے (اس روز) وہ تم کو تمہارے عمل جو تم کرتے ہو (ایک ایک کرکے) بتائے گا

Wa laqad ji'tumoonaa furaadaa kamaa khalaqnaakum awwala marratinw wa taraktum maa khawwalnaakum waraaa'a zuhoorikum wa maa naraa ma'akum shufa'aaa' akumul lazeena za'amtum annahum feekum shurakaaa'; laqat taqatta'a bainakum wa dalla 'annkum maa kuntum taz'umoon
[It will be said to them], "And you have certainly come to Us alone as We created you the first time, and you have left whatever We bestowed upon you behind you. And We do not see with you your 'intercessors' which you claimed that they were among you associates [of Allah]. It has [all] been severed between you, and lost from you is what you used to claim."
اور جیسا ہم نے تم کو پہلی دفعہ پیدا کیا تھا ایسا ہی آج اکیلے اکیلے ہمارے پاس آئے اور جو (مال ومتاع) ہم نے تمہیں عطا فرمایا تھا وہ سب اپنی پیٹھ پیچھے چھوڑ آئے اور ہم تمہارے ساتھ تمہارے سفارشیوں کو بھی نہیں دیکھتے جن کی نسبت تم خیال کرتے تھے کہ وہ تمہارے (شفیع اور ہمارے) شریک ہیں۔ (آج) تمہارے آپس کے سب تعلقات منقطع ہوگئے اور جو دعوے تم کیا کرتے تھے سب جاتے رہے

وَلَا تَسُبُّوا۟ ٱلَّذِينَ يَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ فَيَسُبُّوا۟ ٱللَّهَ عَدْوًۢا بِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍ كَذَٰلِكَ زَيَّنَّا لِكُلِّ أُمَّةٍ عَمَلَهُمْ ثُمَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِم مَّرْجِعُهُمْ فَيُنَبِّئُهُم بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ
Wa laa tasubbul lazeena yad'oona min doonil laahi fa yasubbul laaha 'adwam bighairi 'ilm; kazaalika zaiyannaa likulli ummatin 'amalahum summa ilaa Rabbihim marji'uhum fa yunabbi'uhum bimaa kaanooya'maloon
And do not insult those they invoke other than Allah, lest they insult Allah in enmity without knowledge. Thus We have made pleasing to every community their deeds. Then to their Lord is their return, and He will inform them about what they used to do.

Then to your Lord is your return, and He will inform you concerning that over which you used to differ."
کہو کیا میں خدا کے سوا اور پروردگار تلاش کروں اور وہی تو ہر چیز کا مالک ہے اور جو کوئی (برا) کام کرتا ہے تو اس کا ضرر اسی کو ہوتا ہے اور کوئی شخص کسی (کے گناہ) کا بوجھ نہیں اٹھائے گا پھر تم سب کو اپنے پروردگار کی طرف لوٹ کا جانا ہے تو جن جن باتوں میں تم اختلاف کیا کرتے تھے وہ تم کو بتائے گا

And their declaration when Our punishment came to them was only that they said, "Indeed, we were wrongdoers!"

Tafsir al-Jalalayn: And their only plea their only words when Our might came upon them was to say ‘We were evildoers indeed’.

Allah said,
وَكَم مِّن قَرْيَةٍ أَهْلَكْنَـهَا
(And a great number of towns We destroyed.) for defying Our Messengers and rejecting them. This behavior led them to earn disgrace in this life, which led them to disgrace in the Hereafter. Allah said in other Ayat,
وَلَقَدِ ...
فَلَنَسْـَٔلَنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ أُرْسِلَ إِلَيْهِمْ وَلَنَسْـَٔلَنَّ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ
Falanas 'alannal lazeena ursila ilaihim wa lanas 'alannal mursaleen
Then We will surely question those to whom [a message] was sent, and We will surely question the messengers.

Wallazeena aamanoo wa 'amilus saalihaati la nukallifu nafsan illaa wus'ahaaa ulaaa'ika Ashaabul jannati hum feehaa khaalidoon
But those who believed and did righteous deeds - We charge no soul except [within] its capacity. Those are the companions of Paradise; they will abide therein eternally.

Wa iz akhaza Rabbuka mim Baneee Aadama min zuhoorihim zurriyyatahum wa ash hadahum 'alaa anfusihim alastu bi Rabbikum qaaloo balaa shahidnaaa; an taqooloo Yawmal Qiyaamati innaa kunnaa 'an haazaa ghaafileen
And [mention] when your Lord took from the children of Adam - from their loins - their descendants and made them testify of themselves, [saying to them], "Am I not your Lord?" They said, "Yes, we have testified." [This] - lest you should say on the day of Resurrection, "Indeed, we were of this unaware."

And to Allah belong the best names, so invoke Him by them. And leave [the company of] those who practice deviation concerning His names. They will be recompensed for what they have been doing.

Wa quli'maloo fasayaral laahu 'amalakum wa Rasooluhoo walmu'minoona wa saturaddoona ilaa 'Aalimil Ghaibi washshahaadati fa yunabbi'ukum bimaa kuntum ta'maloon
And say, "Do [as you will], for Allah will see your deeds, and [so, will] His Messenger and the believers. And you will be returned to the Knower of the unseen and the witnessed, and He will inform you of what you used to do."

Falammaaa anjaahum izaa hum yabghoona fil ardi bighairil haqq; yaaa aiyuhannaasu innamaa bagh yukum 'alaaa anfusikum mataa'al hayaatid dunyaa summa ilainaa marji'ukum fanunabbi 'ukum bimaa kuntum ta'maloon
But when He saves them, at once they commit injustice upon the earth without right. O mankind, your injustice is only against yourselves, [being merely] the enjoyment of worldly life. Then to Us is your return, and We will inform you of what you used to do.
لیکن جب وہ ان کو نجات دے دیتا ہے تو ملک میں ناحق شرارت کرنے لگتے ہیں۔ لوگو! تمہاری شرارت کا وبال تمہاری ہی جانوں پر ہوگا تم دنیا کی زندگی کے فائدے اُٹھا لو۔ پھر تم کو ہمارے پاس لوٹ کر آنا ہے۔ اس وقت ہم تم کو بتائیں گے جو کچھ تم کیا کرتے تھے

Ma'arif-ul-Quran: The warning given in verse 23: إِنَّمَا بَغْيُكُمْ عَلَىٰ أَنفُسِكُم (your rebellion is, in fact, against your own-selves) tells us that the curse of injustice is certain and, much before matters are settled in the Hereafter, one who is guilty of doing injustice must suffer from its evil consequence...

فَكَفَىٰ بِٱللَّهِ شَهِيدًۢا بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَكُمْ إِن كُنَّا عَنْ عِبَادَتِكُمْ لَغَٰفِلِينَ
Fakafaa billaahi shaheedam bainanaa wa bainakum in kunnaa 'an 'ibaadatikum laghaafileen
And sufficient is Allah as a witness between us and you that we were of your worship unaware."

وَإِن كَذَّبُوكَ فَقُل لِّى عَمَلِى وَلَكُمْ عَمَلُكُمْ أَنتُم بَرِيٓـُٔونَ مِمَّآ أَعْمَلُ وَأَنَا۠ بَرِىٓءٌ مِّمَّا تَعْمَلُونَ
Wa in kazzabooka faqul lee 'amalee wa lakum 'amalukum antum bareee'oona mimmaaa a'malu wa ana bareee'um mimmaa ta'maloon
And if they deny you, [O Muhammad], then say, "For me are my deeds, and for you are your deeds. You are disassociated from what I do, and I am disassociated from what you do."
اور اگر یہ تمہاری تکذیب کریں تو کہہ دو کہ مجھ کو میرے اعمال (کا بدلہ ملے گا) اور تم کو تمہارے اعمال (کا) تم میرے عملوں کا جواب دہ نہیں ہو اور میں تمہارے عملوں کا جوابدہ نہیں ہوں

Ma'arif-ul-Quran: In the concluding verse (32), it was said: فَذَٰلِكُمُ اللَّـهُ رَبُّكُمُ الْحَقُّ ۖ فَمَاذَا بَعْدَ الْحَقِّ إِلَّا الضَّلَالُ (So, that is Allah, your Lord in truth. And what is there, after truth, but error?), that is, ` this is the Sacred Being whose attributes of perfection have just been ment...
Tafsir al-Jalalayn: If they deny you then say to them ‘Unto me is my work and to you your work that is for each there will be a due requital of his deeds; you are innocent of what I do and I am innocent of what you do’ this was abrogated by the ‘sword’ verse Q. 95.
Tafsir Ibn Kathir (English): The Command to be Free and Clear from the Idolators
Allah said to His Prophet : `If these idolators belie you, then be clear from them and their deeds.'
فَقُل لِّى عَمَلِى وَلَكُمْ عَمَلُكُمْ
(Say: "For me are my deeds and for you are your deeds!") Similarly, Allah said:
قُلْ يأَيُّهَا الْكَـفِرُونَ...
إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَظْلِمُ ٱلنَّاسَ شَيْـًٔا وَلَٰكِنَّ ٱلنَّاسَ أَنفُسَهُمْ يَظْلِمُونَ
Innal laaha laa yazlimun naasa shai'anw wa laakin nannaasa anfusahum yazlimoon
Indeed, Allah does not wrong the people at all, but it is the people who are wronging themselves.

Allah said to His Prophet : `If these idolators belie you, then be clear from them and their deeds.'
فَقُل لِّى عَمَلِى وَلَكُمْ عَمَلُكُمْ
(Say: "For me are my deeds and for you are your deeds!") Similarly, Allah said:
قُلْ يأَيُّهَا الْكَـفِرُونَ...
وَلِكُلِّ أُمَّةٍ رَّسُولٌ فَإِذَا جَآءَ رَسُولُهُمْ قُضِىَ بَيْنَهُم بِٱلْقِسْطِ وَهُمْ لَا يُظْلَمُونَ
Wa likulli ummatir Rasoolun fa izaa jaaa'a Rasooluhum qudiya bainahum bilqisti wa hum laa yuzlamoon
And for every nation is a messenger. So when their messenger comes, it will be judged between them in justice, and they will not be wronged

قُلْ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّاسُ قَدْ جَآءَكُمُ ٱلْحَقُّ مِن رَّبِّكُمْ فَمَنِ ٱهْتَدَىٰ فَإِنَّمَا يَهْتَدِى لِنَفْسِهِۦ وَمَن ضَلَّ فَإِنَّمَا يَضِلُّ عَلَيْهَا وَمَآ أَنَا۠ عَلَيْكُم بِوَكِيلٍ
Qul yaaa aiyuhan naasu qad jaaa'akumul haqqu mir Rabbikum famanih tadaa fa innamaa yahtadee linafsihee wa man dalla fa innamaa yadillu 'alaihaa wa maaa ana 'alaikum biwakeel
Say, "O mankind, the truth has come to you from your Lord, so whoever is guided is only guided for [the benefit of] his soul, and whoever goes astray only goes astray [in violation] against it. And I am not over you a manager."

And O my people, work according to your position; indeed, I am working. You are going to know to whom will come a punishment that will disgrace him and who is a liar. So watch; indeed, I am with you a watcher, [awaiting the outcome]."

For those who have responded to their Lord is the best [reward], but those who did not respond to Him - if they had all that is in the earth entirely and the like of it with it, they would [attempt to] ransom themselves thereby. Those will have the worst account, and their refuge is Hell, and wretched is the resting place.

On the Day when every soul will come disputing for itself, and every soul will be fully compensated for what it did, and they will not be wronged.

Kallaa; sanaktubu maa yaqoolu wa namuddu lahoo minal 'azaabi maddaa
No! We will record what he says and extend for him from the punishment extensively.

Indeed, the Hour is coming - I almost conceal it - so that every soul may be recompensed according to that for which it strives.

مَّنْ أَعْرَضَ عَنْهُ فَإِنَّهُۥ يَحْمِلُ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ وِزْرًا
Man a'rada 'anhu, fa innahoo yahmilu Yawmal Qiyaamati wizraa
Whoever turns away from it - then indeed, he will bear on the Day of Resurrection a burden,

Ma'arif-ul-Quran: The next verse viz: لَا يُسْأَلُ عَمَّا يَفْعَلُ وَهُمْ يُسْأَلُونَ (He is not questioned of what He does, and they are questioned) probably reinforces the argument that anyone who is answerable for his actions to someone else cannot be God.

And We place the scales of justice for the Day of Resurrection, so no soul will be treated unjustly at all. And if there is [even] the weight of a mustard seed, We will bring it forth. And sufficient are We as accountant.

And if not that a disaster should strike them for what their hands put forth [of sins] and they would say, "Our Lord, why did You not send us a messenger so we could have followed Your verses and been among the believers?"...
