Remote Place

مَكَان قَصِيّ

The phrase "مَكَان قَصِيّ" (makān qaṣīy), or "remote place," carries deep spiritual resonance in Islamic tradition, primarily connected to the blessed Maryam (Mary), mother of Prophet Isa (Jesus), peace be upon them both. Facing the miraculous conception of Isa, Maryam sought solitude and discretion, and [she withdrew with him to a remote place]. This secluded setting was where she endured the pangs of childbirth, a moment of profound vulnerability where [her Lord provided for her] with sustenance and comfort, demonstrating divine care even in utter isolation. Her choice of a remote place underscores her immense faith, seeking refuge and privacy as she faced an extraordinary trial. It became a sacred space where a divine miracle unfolded, symbolizing protection and reliance on Allah alone. Beyond this poignant narrative, the term also appears metaphorically to describe the dire spiritual state of one who [associates partners with Allah], portraying them as utterly cast away into a desolate, remote abyss. Thus, "مَكَان قَصِيّ" serves as both a testament to divine mercy in solitude and a warning against spiritual estrangement.

Quran 2 verses

فَحَمَلَتْهُ فَٱنتَبَذَتْ بِهِۦ مَكَانًا قَصِيًّا

Fahamalat hu fantabazat bihee makaanan qasiyyaa

So she conceived him, and she withdrew with him to a remote place.

تو وہ اس (بچّے) کے ساتھ حاملہ ہوگئیں اور اسے لے کر ایک دور جگہ چلی گئیں

Inclining [only] to Allah, not associating [anything] with Him. And he who associates with Allah - it is as though he had fallen from the sky and was snatched by the birds or the wind carried him down into a remote place.
