Al-Masjid al-Aqsa

الْمَسْجِدِ الْأَقْصَىٰ

Al-Masjid al-Aqsa, known as "The Farthest Mosque" in Jerusalem, holds profound spiritual significance as one of Islam's holiest sites. Its sanctity is enshrined in the Quran, specifically relating to Prophet Muhammad's miraculous Night Journey (Al-Isra). [Exalted is He who took His Servant by night from al-Masjid al-Haram to al-Masjid al-Aqsa], a journey of immense spiritual insight. The divine narrative further emphasizes its unique status, noting [whose surroundings We have blessed]. This blessed land was the destination before the Prophet's ascension to the heavens (Al-Mi'raj), where God chose [to show him of Our signs]. Al-Aqsa was also the first Qibla, the direction Muslims faced for prayer, underscoring its historical importance before the Kaaba in Mecca became the Qibla. Revered by Muslims worldwide, it stands as a testament to the continuous chain of prophethood and a place where [Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Seeing] is profoundly felt, symbolizing divine presence and blessings for all humanity.

Quran 1 verse

Exalted is He who took His Servant by night from al-Masjid al-Haram to al-Masjid al-Aqsa, whose surroundings We have blessed, to show him of Our signs. Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Seeing.
