Joseph's Reunion with His Brother

لقاء يوسف بأخيه

"Joseph's Reunion with His Brother" describes a poignant chapter in the life of Prophet Yusuf (Joseph), a story cherished in the Quran for its profound lessons. After years of separation and hardship, Joseph, now a powerful minister in Egypt, orchestrates a plan to be reunited with his full brother, Benjamin, his only remaining sibling from his mother Rachel. When his brothers arrive in Egypt seeking provisions, Joseph secretly identifies Benjamin, and in a deeply emotional moment, [he took his brother to himself; he said, "Indeed, I am your brother, so do not despair over what they used to do [to me]."]. This private revelation offered comfort and a shared understanding, a balm for years of separation and past grievances. To keep Benjamin with him and to gently compel his other brothers to return for a full family reunion, Joseph ingeniously arranged for [the king's measuring cup to be placed in Benjamin's saddlebag]. This 'theft' provided a pretext, allowing Benjamin to remain by Joseph's side, as Joseph himself later revealed, [“Thus did We plan for Joseph.”]. This event underscores divine wisdom and the intricate unfolding of Allah's plan, demonstrating Joseph's profound love for his brother and his patient strategy to ultimately bring his entire family together, transforming past betrayal into future reconciliation and peace. It highlights the strength of familial bonds and the ultimate triumph of justice and love.

Quran 1 verse

Wa lammaa dakhaloo 'alaa Yoosufa aawaaa ilaihi akhaahu qaala inneee ana akhooka falaa tabta'is bimaa kaanoo ya'maloon

And when they entered upon Joseph, he took his brother to himself; he said, "Indeed, I am your brother, so do not despair over what they used to do [to me]."
