Parting of the Sea
The Parting of the Sea (فَلْقُ الْبَحْر) stands as one of the most magnificent and awe-inspiring miracles in Islamic tradition, a profound testament to Allah's boundless power and His unwavering protection of His prophets and righteous servants. Faced with the relentless pursuit of Pharaoh and his tyrannical army, Prophet Musa (Moses) and the Children of Israel found themselves seemingly trapped at the edge of the sea. In this moment of desperate need, Allah commanded Musa to [strike with his staff the sea]. What followed was a breathtaking display of divine intervention: the vast waters miraculously parted, creating a dry path, with [each portion was like a great towering mountain]. This allowed the Children of Israel to cross to safety, while Pharaoh and his army, in their arrogant pursuit, were drowned, as Allah recounts: [We parted the sea for you and saved you and drowned the people of Pharaoh while you were looking on]. This pivotal event, where Allah made [a dry path through the sea], remains a powerful symbol of salvation, hope, and the ultimate triumph of truth over oppression, reinforcing our trust in divine mercy and justice.
Quran 2 verses
Wa iz faraqnaa bikumul bahra fa anjainaakum wa agh-raqnaaa Aala Fir'awna wa antum tanzuroon
And [recall] when We parted the sea for you and saved you and drowned the people of Pharaoh while you were looking on.
Commentary
Fa awhainaaa ilaa Moosaaa anidrib bi'asaakal bahra fanfalaqa fakaana kullu firqin kattawdil 'azeem
Then We inspired to Moses, "Strike with your staff the sea," and it parted, and each portion was like a great towering mountain.
