Drowning of Pharaoh

إِغْرَاق فِرْعَوْن

The drowning of Pharaoh and his army is a profound event in Islamic history, serving as a powerful testament to Allah's divine justice and His unwavering support for His prophets. After relentlessly persecuting the Children of Israel and refusing to heed the warnings of Prophet Musa (Moses), Pharaoh pursued them as they fled Egypt. As the Children of Israel crossed the miraculously parted sea, Allah, in His immense power, allowed them to pass safely. However, when Pharaoh and his army entered the opened path, the waters closed upon them. This momentous event, vividly recounted in the Quran, marks the end of Pharaoh's tyranny and his ultimate destruction. [And [recall] when We parted the sea for you and saved you and drowned the people of Pharaoh while you looked on]. It was a decisive retribution [because they denied Our signs and were heedless of them]. The drowning of Pharaoh is not merely a historical account; it is a timeless lesson for humanity, reminding us that oppression and arrogance ultimately lead to destruction. It underscores Allah's might and His justice, demonstrating that [Allah seized him in exemplary punishment for the last and the first [transgression]], making him an enduring example for those who transgress.
