The Blowing of the Trumpet (نفخ الصور) is a profound and awe-inspiring concept in Islamic tradition, signaling a pivotal moment in existence. It refers to the magnificent sound of a horn or trumpet that will be sounded by the angel Israfil, marking the dramatic transition from worldly life to the eternal Hereafter. This divine command will occur twice. The first blast will herald the end of all current life, [which will seize them while they are disputing] and bring an abrupt halt to the affairs of this world. Then, after a period known only to Allah, a second blast will resound, a [single shout] that will awaken all souls from creation, bringing them forth for resurrection and judgment. This momentous event, often described as [the Deafening Blast], underscores Allah's absolute power and the inevitability of the Day of Judgment. It serves as a powerful reminder for believers to live righteously, mindful of the ultimate accountability and their return to their Creator, when [the trumpet is blown] and all will stand before Him.
Quran 4 verses
مَا يَنظُرُونَ إِلَّا صَيْحَةً وَٰحِدَةً تَأْخُذُهُمْ وَهُمْ يَخِصِّمُونَ
Maa yanzuroona illaa saihatanw waahidatan taa khuzuhum wa hum yakhissimoon
They do not await except one blast which will seize them while they are disputing.
یہ تو ایک چنگھاڑ کے منتظر ہیں جو ان کو اس حال میں کہ باہم جھگڑ رہے ہوں گے آپکڑے گی
Commentary
فَإِنَّمَا هِىَ زَجْرَةٌ وَٰحِدَةٌ فَإِذَا هُمْ يَنظُرُونَ
Fa innamaa hiya zajra tunw waahidatun fa izaa hum yanzuroon
It will be only one shout, and at once they will be observing.
وہ تو ایک زور کی آواز ہوگی اور یہ اس وقت دیکھنے لگیں گے
Commentary
فَإِذَا نُقِرَ فِى ٱلنَّاقُورِ
Fa izaa nuqira fin naaqoor
And when the trumpet is blown,
جب صور پھونکا جائے گا
Commentary
فَإِذَا جَآءَتِ ٱلصَّآخَّةُ
Faiza jaa-atis saakhah.
But when there comes the Deafening Blast
تو جب (قیامت کا) غل مچے گا

حَدَّثَنِي الْحَسَنُ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ خَلِيلٍ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحِيمِ، عَنْ زَكَرِيَّاءَ بْنِ أَبِي زَائِدَةَ، عَنْ عَامِرٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ " إِنِّي أَوَّلُ مَنْ يَرْفَعُ رَأْسَهُ بَعْدَ النَّفْخَةِ الآخِرَةِ، فَإِذَا أَنَا بِمُوسَى مُتَعَلِّقٌ بِالْعَرْشِ فَلاَ أَدْرِي أَكَذَلِكَ كَانَ أَمْ بَعْدَ النَّفْخَةِ ".
Narrated Abu Huraira:The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "I will be the first to raise my head after the second blowing of the trumpet and will see Moses hanging on the Throne, and I will not know whether he had been in that state all the time or after the blowing of the trumpet
مجھ سے حسن نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے اسماعیل بن خلیل نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم کو عبدالرحیم نے خبر دی، انہیں زکریا بن ابی زائدہ نے، انہیں عامر نے اور ان سے ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا کہ آخری مرتبہ صور پھونکے جانے کے بعد سب سے پہلے اپنا سر اٹھانے والا میں ہوں گا لیکن اس وقت میں موسیٰ علیہ السلام کو دیکھوں گا کہ عرش کے ساتھ لپٹے ہوئے ہیں، اب مجھے نہیں معلوم کہ وہ پہلے ہی سے اسی طرح تھے یا دوسرے صور کے بعد ( مجھ سے پہلے ) اٹھ کر عرش الٰہی کو تھام لیں گے۔
حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ حَفْصٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي قَالَ، حَدَّثَنَا الأَعْمَشُ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا صَالِحٍ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ " بَيْنَ النَّفْخَتَيْنِ أَرْبَعُونَ ". قَالُوا يَا أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ أَرْبَعُونَ يَوْمًا قَالَ أَبَيْتُ. قَالَ أَرْبَعُونَ سَنَةً قَالَ أَبَيْتُ. قَالَ أَرْبَعُونَ شَهْرًا. قَالَ أَبَيْتُ، وَيَبْلَى كُلُّ شَىْءٍ مِنَ الإِنْسَانِ إِلاَّ عَجْبَ ذَنَبِهِ، فِيهِ يُرَكَّبُ الْخَلْقُ.
Narrated Abu Huraira:The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Between the two blowing of the trumpet there will be forty." The people said, "O Abu Huraira! Forty days?" I refused to reply. They said, "Forty years?" I refused to reply and added: Everything of the human body will decay except the coccyx bone (of the tail) and from that bone Allah will reconstruct the whole body
ہم سے عمر بن حفص نے بیان کیا، کہا مجھ سے میرے والد نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے اعمش نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے ابوصالح سے سنا اور انہوں نے ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے سنا کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا کہ دونوں صوروں کے پھونکے جانے کا درمیانی عرصہ چالیس ہے۔ ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ کے شاگردوں نے پوچھا: کیا چالیس دن مراد ہیں؟ انہوں نے کہا کہ مجھے معلوم نہیں پھر انہوں نے پوچھا: چالیس سال؟ اس پر بھی انہوں نے انکار کیا۔ پھر انہوں نے پوچھا: چالیس مہینے؟ اس کے متعلق بھی انہوں نے کہا کہ مجھ کو خبر نہیں اور ہر چیز فنا ہو جائے گی، سوا ریڑھ کی ہڈی کے کہ اسی سے ساری مخلوق دوبارہ بنائی جائے گی۔
