The Horn

الصُّور

The Horn (الصُّور), an awe-inspiring concept in Islamic eschatology, refers to a majestic trumpet that will be blown by the angel Israfil, marking the dramatic conclusion of this worldly life and the commencement of the Eternal Afterlife. Mentioned repeatedly in the Quran, its sound will herald moments of profound transformation. Initially, its blast will signify the end of all existence, causing [whoever is in the heavens and whoever is on the earth to be terrified], except those Allah wills to spare. Then, it will be blown again, and all humanity will be resurrected, as [from the graves to their Lord they will hasten], gathered for divine judgment. This pivotal event underscores the ultimate reality of accountability, where [no relationship will there be among them that Day, nor will they ask about one another], as each soul stands individually before Allah. The Horn is a powerful reminder of life's transient nature and the certainty of our return to the Creator, emphasizing the importance of preparing for that momentous day.

Quran 13 verses

وَتَرَكْنَا بَعْضَهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ يَمُوجُ فِى بَعْضٍ وَنُفِخَ فِى ٱلصُّورِ فَجَمَعْنَٰهُمْ جَمْعًا

Wa taraknaa ba'dahum Yawma'iziny yamooju fee ba'dinw wa nufikha fis Soori fajama'naahum jam'aa

And We will leave them that day surging over each other, and [then] the Horn will be blown, and We will assemble them in [one] assembly.
