بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ إِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ ٱنفَطَرَتْ
Izas samaaa'un fatarat
When the sky breaks apart
جب آسمان پھٹ جائے گا
Tafsir al-Jalalayn
When the heaven is split open when it is rent asunder
وَإِذَا ٱلْكَوَاكِبُ ٱنتَثَرَتْ
Wa izal kawaakibun tasarat
And when the stars fall, scattering,
اور جب تارے جھڑ پڑیں گے
Tafsir al-Jalalayn
and when the stars are dispersed when they expire and begin to fall
وَإِذَا ٱلْبِحَارُ فُجِّرَتْ
Wa izal bihaaru fujjirat
And when the seas are erupted
اور جب دریا بہہ (کر ایک دوسرے سے مل) جائیں گے
Tafsir al-Jalalayn
and when the seas are burst forth released one upon the other forming one mass of water so that the sweet water mixes with the salty;
وَإِذَا ٱلْقُبُورُ بُعْثِرَتْ
Wa izal qubooru bu'sirat
And when the [contents of] graves are scattered,
اور جب قبریں اکھیڑ دی جائیں گی
Tafsir al-Jalalayn
and when the tombs are overturned when their earth above them is dug up and its dead are raised the response to idhā ‘when’ and all that is supplemented thereto is the following
عَلِمَتْ نَفْسٌ مَّا قَدَّمَتْ وَأَخَّرَتْ
'Alimat nafsum maa qaddamat wa akhkharat
A soul will [then] know what it has put forth and kept back.
تب ہر شخص معلوم کرلے گا کہ اس نے آگے کیا بھیجا تھا اور پیچھے کیا چھوڑا تھا
Tafsir al-Jalalayn
a soul every soul will know at the time of the occurrence of the things mentioned which is the Day of Resurrection what it has sent ahead in the way of deeds and what it has left behind of these and did not do.
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلْإِنسَٰنُ مَا غَرَّكَ بِرَبِّكَ ٱلْكَرِيمِ
Yaaa ayyuhal insaaanu maa gharraka bi Rabbikal kareem
O mankind, what has deceived you concerning your Lord, the Generous,
اے انسان تجھ کو اپنے پروردگار کرم گستر کے باب میں کس چیز نے دھوکا دیا
Tafsir al-Jalalayn
O disbelieving man! What has deceived you with regard to your generous Lord? so that you have disobeyed Him
ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَكَ فَسَوَّىٰكَ فَعَدَلَكَ
Allazee khalaqaka fasaw waaka fa'adalak
Who created you, proportioned you, and balanced you?
(وہی تو ہے) جس نے تجھے بنایا اور (تیرے اعضا کو) ٹھیک کیا اور (تیرے قامت کو) معتدل رکھا
Tafsir al-Jalalayn
Who created you when you were not then made you upright in your created form with sound limbs then proportioned you read fa-‘adalak or fa-‘addalak making you symmetrical in shape with well-proportioned parts so that no hand or leg is longer than the other
فِىٓ أَىِّ صُورَةٍ مَّا شَآءَ رَكَّبَكَ
Feee ayye sooratim maa shaaa'a rakkabak
In whatever form He willed has He assembled you.
اور جس صورت میں چاہا تجھے جوڑ دیا
Tafsir al-Jalalayn
assembling you in whatever mā is a relative form He will?
كَلَّا بَلْ تُكَذِّبُونَ بِٱلدِّينِ
Kalla bal tukazziboona bid deen
No! But you deny the Recompense.
مگر ہیہات تم لوگ جزا کو جھٹلاتے ہو
Tafsir al-Jalalayn
No indeed! — a deterrent against letting oneself be misled by the generosity of God exalted be He. Rather you that is disbelievers of Mecca deny Judgement requital for deeds;
وَإِنَّ عَلَيْكُمْ لَحَٰفِظِينَ
Wa inna 'alaikum lahaa fizeen
And indeed, [appointed] over you are keepers,
حالانکہ تم پر نگہبان مقرر ہیں
Tafsir al-Jalalayn
Yet lo! there are above you watchers from among the angels over your deeds
كِرَامًا كَٰتِبِينَ
Kiraaman kaatibeen
Noble and recording;
عالی قدر (تمہاری باتوں کے) لکھنے والے
Tafsir al-Jalalayn
noble in God’s sight writers of these deeds
يَعْلَمُونَ مَا تَفْعَلُونَ
Ya'lamoona ma taf'aloon
They know whatever you do.
جو تم کرتے ہو وہ اسے جانتے ہیں
Tafsir al-Jalalayn
who know whatever you do all of it.
إِنَّ ٱلْأَبْرَارَ لَفِى نَعِيمٍ
Innal abraara lafee na'eem
Indeed, the righteous will be in pleasure,
بے شک نیکوکار نعمتوں (کی بہشت) میں ہوں گے۔
Tafsir al-Jalalayn
Indeed the pious the believers who are sincere in their faith shall be amid bliss in Paradise
وَإِنَّ ٱلْفُجَّارَ لَفِى جَحِيمٍ
Wa innal fujjaara lafee jaheem
And indeed, the wicked will be in Hellfire.
اور بدکردار دوزخ میں
Tafsir al-Jalalayn
and indeed the profligates the disbelievers shall be in Hell-fire a scorching fire
يَصْلَوْنَهَا يَوْمَ ٱلدِّينِ
Yaslawnahaa Yawmad Deen
They will [enter to] burn therein on the Day of Recompense,
(یعنی) جزا کے دن اس میں داخل ہوں گے

entering it to suffer its heat on the Day of Judgement the Day of Requital
وَمَا هُمْ عَنْهَا بِغَآئِبِينَ
Wa maa hum 'anhaa bighaaa 'ibeen
And never therefrom will they be absent.
اور اس سے چھپ نہیں سکیں گے
Tafsir al-Jalalayn
and they shall not be absent from it they shall not be taken out of it.
وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا يَوْمُ ٱلدِّينِ
Wa maaa adraaka maa Yawmud Deen
And what can make you know what is the Day of Recompense?
اور تمہیں کیا معلوم کہ جزا کا دن کیسا ہے؟
Tafsir al-Jalalayn
And what would show you what would inform you what the Day of Judgement is?
ثُمَّ مَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا يَوْمُ ٱلدِّينِ
Summa maaa adraaka maa Yawmud Deen
Then, what can make you know what is the Day of Recompense?
پھر تمہیں کیا معلوم کہ جزا کا دن کیسا ہے؟
Tafsir al-Jalalayn
Again what would show you what the Day of Judgement is? — repeated to emphasise its enormity.
يَوْمَ لَا تَمْلِكُ نَفْسٌ لِّنَفْسٍ شَيْـًٔا وَٱلْأَمْرُ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلَّهِ
Yawma laa tamliku nafsul linafsin shai'anw walamru yawma'izil lillaah
It is the Day when a soul will not possess for another soul [power to do] a thing; and the command, that Day, is [entirely] with Allah.
جس روز کوئی کسی کا بھلا نہ کر سکے گا اور حکم اس روز خدا ہی کا ہو گا

It is a day read yawmu when no soul will be of any avail any use to another soul and the absolute command on that day will be God’s there will be no power of command for anyone other than Him thereat in other words none has been given the power to mediate thereupon in contrast to situations in this world.
